Turning the tide on plastic

Daily Mail launched a campaign 10 years ago to end the scourge of plastic bags destroying our environment and threatening human health, which has contributed to an astonishing 85% reduction in the number of plastic bags used.

In a bid to help this crucial cause even further, we’re doing everything in our power once again to get people talking about the issue and more importantly, break the plastic habit in their everyday lives.

Our latest campaign has already sparked conversation amongst the UN Environment Programme and Newsnight as we aim to reach many more people, influencing them to make a change in order to help our environment and protect our oceans.

Last Saturday’s Daily Mail (3rd Feb, 2018), featured the first in a special series of articles written by experts offering our readers invaluable tips on how to minimise the amount of plastic they use. It also ran with a promotion of a free reusable cup for our readers.

Over the coming months, we will stop the use of poly wrapping in our Saturday edition of Daily Mail, with similar plans for The Mail on Sunday in the future.
